Santa Fe, New Mexico, Zozobra, La Fiesta, More
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Leaving Boston as the Sun rises over the wing
Descending into the New Mexican desert in Albuquerque
Anyone who's landed at the Albuquerque airport has seen this cool statue!
I actually ran into my friend Scott at the airport!
Here I am in Santa Fe, yeah, man!
Zozobra
Zozobra in The Midst!
The young kids really dig Zozobra!
Some people get down to Zozobra early to get a good spot.
Zozobra 2008! He's got green hair this year and fists of rage!
The La Fiesta court on the band stage led by a General Don Diego de Vargas actor
Bands play all day long on the band stage.
Even at Zozobra you'll find the Red Sox Nation!
At sundown, the lights go out and the fireworks go up!
Zozobra, otherwise known as Old Man Gloom, shakes his fist as the fury flies! Note the red Fire Dancer at Zozobras feet!
Filled with the gloom of all of last year, Zozobra begins to burn!
A fiery fate our Zozobra!
More fireworks as Zozobra and all his gloom go up in flames!
Nothing but a small fire is all that's left of Zozobra!
After Zozobra burns, the people of Santa Fe celebrate!
Some girls celebrating!
Some guys celebrating!
After Zozobra, I went down to the La Fonda to hear Bill Hearne play. That guy is awesome!
At Bill Hearne's show, I ran into the President of the Kiwanis who puts on the Zozobra show!
Everybody ends up in Evangelo's at some point! The bartender is Evangelo's son, and the large photo behind him is a shot of Evangelo in WWII that appeared in Life Magazine.
Dancers enjoying the band at Evangelo's
Cool wicker motorcycle in Evanelo's!
Cabalero!
Viva La Fiesta!
Breakfast with my Mom and Stepdad and some of their friends! Huevo Rancheros, baby!
After breakfast, my Step Dad and I took his dog, Perro, for a walk in the desert.
View of The Plaza in the center of Santa Fe
Another view of the plaza
Kiosks line the perimeter of The Plaza, selling all kinds of good food!
I ordered a cheeseburger with green chilis on it at this place.
Native American vendors line the walkway selling their handmade jewelry, pottery and crafts
Native Americans getting ready to go on stage for a performance
A Mariachi Band plays on the Bandstand on The Plaza
Some awesome spanish dancing!
Santa Fe's only all female mariachi band
Rock bands play on the band stand, too!
Another mariachi band. I love that big fat bass instrument.
The Sun lights up the church as folks walk the street
People like to hang out under the monument in the center of The Plaza
Interesting text on the monument
The streets of Santa Fe!
The Eldorado Hotel. I've played on the roof of that place a couple of times!
The La Fonda Hotel. I went up into the bell tower at sunset.
Bell Tower view!
I'm not the only one enjoying the view!
The Plaza at night
That's not a beer, brother, that's tequila! Chinaco anejo, in fact!
An adobe house at night.
Even the State Capital building is Adobe style, how cool is that?
Cool statue in front of the State House
Elephants on parade! These are actually sculptures, but they look pretty real to me!
Art is everywhere in Santa Fe. Even the electric boxes that operate the street lights get painted up!
This horse might have been in the sun too long.
Every time I'm in Santa Fe I go to the Georgia O'Keeffe museum. This exhibit's special guest artist was Ansel Adams. The top image is her painting of a church in New Mexico and the bottom image is a photo Adams took of the same church. I think her art blows away his photos.
This guy was singing some cool Ledbelly song.
A couple of great asses!
Who knew?
Crosses on a wall in my Mom's house
My Mom and Step Dad and their dog, Perro
Scott brought his girlfriend, Victoria, up from Albuquerque for a visit
My Mom's friend Allie came by to say hi, too. She's from Wisconsin like me!
Went out for one last beer on the town. Make it a Santa Fe Pale Ale, Dan-O!
This band was rockin' El Paseo.
Feeling kind of melancholy, wishin' I could stay a little longer.
Dancin' in the streets after closing time!
Yeah, I was a little buzzed.
Headin' home to Boston with my head in the clouds.
Pat and Dawn's Party
Dawn is such a sweet hostess! Yes, please, thank you, Dawn!
Pat set me up with a cool koozie!
Live Music in the park!
Meg and Karen visited me from Virginia and we went to listen to some great live music in the park.
Sal Baglio and the band were rockin'! Hey, isn't that Bill and Ruby on the left? Awesome!
More shots!
Veronica celebrates her birthday with me at Hennessy's!
Debbie B gets a rare night out with her friend! Friend? They could be sisters!
Ever notice how the blue streak on the gas tank looks like a profile shot of Ho Chi Min?
How do you like my new Mustang? Yeah, right, I wish! This was Meg and Karen's rental, ha ha ha! They let me drive it though, yeah man! Took it over to Suffolk Downs, too!
Okay, that's all for now!
